Group 2- Southern Middle School, Southern Elementary School and the South Wellness Center

Description:

Perform supervisory and routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings, in a clean, orderly and secure condition.

 

Nightly Job Summary: 3-11:30 PM

 

  • Plan, implement, oversee and participate in the custodial activities of an assigned school.
  • Train and provide work direction to assigned employees; assign and review the work of others.
  • Plan and implement appropriate responses to emergency situations.
  • Clean classrooms, restrooms if applicable, and related facilities as assigned;
  • Classrooms should be dust mopped, mopped and carpets vacuumed
  • Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and windows.
  • Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; report and recommend need for maintenance to team leader, maintain security of buildings;
  • Wash windows and walls periodically; empty pencil sharpeners daily
  • Clean blinds, dust and polish furniture and woodwork
  • Lock and unlock doors and gates as appropriate; maintain security of assigned areas
  • Respond to emergency cleanups such as spills; perform simple repair needs and address safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Team 1 will be spending 3 hours at Oak Hill and 5 hours at Southwestern High school nightly
  • Team 2 will be spending 3 hours at Southern Elementary School, 4 hours at Southern Middle School and 1 hour per night at the South Wellness Center
  • Cleaning the South Wellness Center would include restrooms, locker rooms, stage area, entry way, walking track and dust mopping and spot mopping wooden gym floor. Any other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with Central Office Supervisors to ensure success of your team
  • Order products your team needs through your Central Office Supervisors

Summer Job Summary (day shift)

Team Cleaners will work dayshift during the summer and can work day shift on snow days and other days without students

  • Participate in major summer cleaning projects as assigned working with assigned school to accomplish summer cleaning, under lead of Head Custodian
  • As Team Leader, work WITH head custodians in the summer to create a good environment to be able to work together to accomplish summer goals and cleaning objectives

GROUP 1 SUMMER DUTIES

One member will report to Oak Hill Elem School

Four members will report to South Western High School



GROUP 2 SUMMER DUTIES

  • Three members will report to Southern Elem and be responsible to clean the South Wellness Center Daily
  • Two members will report to Southern Middle School


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law.

Knowledge of:

  • Basic methods, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial work and routine maintenance.
  • Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Proper lifting techniques.
  • Principles of training and providing work direction.
  • Safety regulations including SDS sheets on chemicals being used

Ability to:

  • Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings
  • Use cleaning materials, equipment and methods according to predetermined standards.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of the schedules, procedures and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.
  • Learn appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
  • Maintain tools and equipment signed in clean working order and provide proper security.
  • Perform minor non-technical repairs.
  • Perform heavy physical labor.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Inspect and assure the security of facilities during the assigned shift.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Walk, bend, lift, push and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on custodial services equipment.
  • Train and provide work direction to others.
  • Assign and review the work of others.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Work independently with little direction.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Must be able to lift one-third of their body weight, not to exceed 50 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
